Accessible INCI list, identifiable origin, no misleading claims. Without this, a product doesn’t even enter the conversation.
Then at least two of these three criteria:

1. Proven performance

  • Reliable wear, true-to-color rendering. No noticeable oxidation. Claims that hold up in real use.

2. Justified price

  • Consistency between formula and price — never inflated by packaging alone. More affordable alternatives are flagged when they exist.

3. A distinctive edge

  • Genuine shade inclusivity where applicable, refillable format, identifiable French or European origin, or a recognized iconic formula.

Rejected products don’t vanish in silence: they are recorded, with their reasons, in our Register of Refusals.

Simple. Demanding. Unapologetic.
